A Riveting Speech On Whether Foreign Exchanges Are Really Worth It!

Thank you for coming to listen to me today! I am here to speak about the significance of a foreign exchange program and how enrolling in one plays an imperative role in the development of us teenagers

When we venture to different and unique countries around the globe and visit a variety of renowned colleges and universities, we get exposure to some of the finest and most prominent educational methods and principles. The arrangement and preparation for such an extensive student exchange program would be quite frenetic and exorbitant for the school and I truly understand this but it is worth considering that during the foreign exchange program, we are representing our school and when we interact with a multitude of professors and other children from different backgrounds and cultures, not only do we gain a personal experience, but even the school gains reputation and popularity. Don’t you think that when we get the opportunity to explore the innovative and interesting methods and technologies being used in other countries to improve the academic performance of children, our education enhances too? We get to learn new, fascinating, and captivating things and learn topics from a diverse range of curricula.

Many schools believe that when we advance to the foreign exchange programs lasting for approximately 4 weeks, we may miss out heavily on the subjects being taught in our school and this may put heavy workload and pressure when we return back. But, I have a different take and opinion on this. When we set out on a foreign exchange program, it is crucial to realise that the learning takes place but a different type of learning happens – one which is not just limited to the classroom environment. We develop a sense of maturity and flexibility when we learn to adapt to different environments and situations which makes us bold and builds durability: It prepares us for what we are going to face in the future when we aspire to get into our dream colleges. Attention given to particular students in other countries may vary but schools generally stand with the opinion that we will be given less importance during a foreign exchange program. This is certainly not the case. One of my friends in my neighbourhood received the glorious chance of exploring Eton College, London for a foreign exchange program. His experience was marvellous and exceptional and he stated specifically that the hospitality of the people in the college and their attitude were unbelievable. A permanent student there had been assigned as a guide to him, who made sure that my friend was feeling comfortable and at ease. Moreover, classes were designed for my friend separately so that he faces no difficulty or obstacles.

In the end, I would like to say that even if we visit a small college and university which is not very popular, it doesn’t really matter and it should definitely not create displeasure in our mind as the knowledge gained is equal and vital. 65% of the educationists believe that when we go on a foreign exchange program we develop an open-ended mind towards various issues happening around the world and this is what makes us more curious and enthusiastic. We get the inner motivation to triumph and give in our best! I hope this sparks some enlightenment in the patient teachers and parents and I am grateful for giving me the opportunity to speak on such an apt topic.
